We spend most of our time at private campgrounds because we want the convenience of full hookups and good cell service during the work week (I work remotely from the RV). But we don’t want our campground to be a glorified parking lot, either, so we like wooded campgrounds that still give you that camping feel. Echo Basin fits that bill. It’s located several miles from the highway (so no road noise) in a wooded area next to a farm. The roads and sites are a mix of dirt and gravel: the sites are fairly level and decently spaced. In addition to full hookups, the campground sells propane, has laundry facilities in the bathhouse, a small store attached to the office, a playground for young kids and volleyball, pickleball, and horseshoe courts/pits for older kids and adults. The campground also a clubhouse with a restaurant and bar available to campers when not in use for weddings or other special events (the campground hosts outdoor weddings). Although there’s no designated dog area, there were plenty of places to walk our dogs on-leash. My Verizon cell service was adequate – I got 10Mbps down and 11Mbps up with my Verizon Jetpack and MIMO antenna. Near the end of our month-long stay, we experienced some lagging while streaming TV but only intermittently. My AT&T connection on my phone wasn’t as good – I usually had only 1 bar – but I could still make phone calls. The only drawback to the campground is that nearby Mancos is a small town, and the grocery store in town didn’t have all of our usual groceries (which meant occasional trips to Walmart in either Cortez or Durango). But it was a small inconvenience for staying at a stellar campground where you could see the sun rise over the mountains at dawn and hints of the Milky Way at night. We would happily stay here again.

We had a wonderful weekend. We were able to get 4 camping spots for our group and spend some awesome time with friends. We enjoyed the pool, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits.

We planned to stay for a month and fell in love and are staying the rest of the year and into next! We’ve had a blast riding our dirt bikes and UTV right out of the park into the San Juan Mountains. Trails forever! Very peaceful resort and the pool, pickleball, basketball and children’s playground are super! This resort is immaculate and the owners are the bomb. 10 stars!!!

Nice place for a family vacation. This place actually has a bar for the adults.
1. September, 2017 – Overall Rating:       This is a wonderful, quiet Rv park with very large spaces between the sites. Satellite wifi, off the beaten track! I came in at night- had to dodge some black cows that got loose about a mile down the road. Don’t be afraid- signs well marked and it is a bit off from rt 160. After the left turn at the bottom of the road the road goes right to the entrance. This park, converted from a boys camp in the 1960s has new owners who treat you like family yet leave you alone for your experience. Huge spaces between campers, pine tree wooded, well maintained sites. Full services, 30/50 amp, well maintained gravel roads in park. Fire pits are beautiful- stone. This is one of the best places I have stayed in ages!! Puts Camping back into RV living. Very close to Mesa Verde. We camped at Echo Basin Ranch in a Fifth Wheel

2.July 2017.

We stayed two nights in a 28′ travel trailer and were blown away at how beautiful of a resort this was.  Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Kids loved the basketball and volleyball courts. We didn’t swim or play golf but it was all there! Many updates to the RV park, all sites that we saw had fire pits and many mature trees. Wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely will be back! Thank you, Tom!!

It is a beautiful place full of Ponderosa Pines. Several miles off any main roads, so very quite and peaceful. Great place for RVs for a weekend or the summer season. Full hook ups and 50amp service. There are also 23 exquisite cabins (2 queen beds) and 3 Deluxe cabins with more amenties and designed for larger family/groups. Echo Basin Ranch/RV Resort does specialize in weddings with georgeous surroundings, ceremonial area, full bar and indoor/outdoor dining area. Echo Basin Ranch/RV Resort also can take care of all your Wedding and dinning needs with a full commercial kitchen. We have been here six weeks and will stay here for the season. If you are a ‘workamper’ or FT RVer, it’s a great place to spend the summer. The Carr family purchased this resort last fall and have done a fantastic job in bringing back this Resort to it full potential!
